I am looking at this piece, because I like how they've used a patterned material to create the paper cut, rather than plain white paper.

This technique is called quilling, and it can be used in a very simple way to create quite bold pieces, but I really love this peacock piece where thy are used in all different sizes to create very small details.

These pieces are by the same artist and I have chosen to look at these, because they use layering. The layering creates depth to the piece, especially with the use of different colours.

Found these pieces where they have actually used leaves instead of paper. i really like this idea and I think it would fit well within my theme, as a lot of fairytales are set out in the outside world, such as forests etc. Therefore I could make a lot of use out of the leaves, and maybe extend the idea into using flowers too.

I really like this piece, because of their technique in portraying the reflections and ripples in the water.

For my current project I am looking into fairytales. At the moment I am just looking for artists, but i discovered quite a few paper cuts based on disney and fairytales. It was interesting to see the different ways they portrayed the story, and the various styles they used.

I personally admire the paper craft work, especially the pop ups because of how they still manage to create a delicate intricate piece, that actually folds up without ruining it.
